This spotlight is on Ullswater, England’s “most beautiful lake”. The lake and surrounding area has much to offer holiday makers, and makes the ideal base for exploring the Lake District. Ullswater is also in the Eden Valley, one of the most scenic parts of Cumbria.
Ullswater is the Ullswater is the second largest lake in the lake district, being nearly 9 miles long and ¾ mile wide at it’s widest point.

At the southern end of Ullswater lie the small villages of Patterdale and Glenridding. They provide an excellent range of self-catering and B&B accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets, as well as a range of shops, restaurants and pubs. At the northern end of the lake lies the popular villages of Pooley Bridge, which has an impressive area of pubs and shops and is a popular destination for day-trippers at weekends throughout the year.
